How to Prepare Your Backyard for a New Shed

Assembled Storage ShedsPreparing the backyard for a new shed is vital and should be done correctly. You can do it on your own, or you can rely on the team at Chapin Sheds to do it for you. With either option, the following must be completed in order for the shed to be delivered to your home.

Dig

First, you must dig up the grass in a 3” – 5” area and create a level area of 12” larger on each side. However, everything depends on the dimensions of the shed you are getting. If you are having a larger shed delivered, then you must expand these measurements.

Fill

After the grass is removed, then you must fill the area with ¾” clean crushed stone to ensure water can drain away from your new shed. Again, you must double check to make sure the pad is level.

Edge

The only way to ensure the stones stay in place is to create a border. This step is not required for shed delivery, but it is essential because you do not want your rocks to leave this area.
